Funds Collected for the Victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake Delivered to Affected Areas
We offer our sincerest condolences for the victims of the 2011 Great East
Japan Earthquake, and would like to express our deepest sympathy for those
affected by the disaster.
After the Great East Japan Earthquake occured on Friday, March 11th, 2011,
MIEF received many calls from foreign residents who wished to help those
in affected areas, but did not know how. To give these residents a way
to contribute to the relief effort, MIEF began accepting cash donations
from foreign residents during mid-March. We are incredibly grateful to
all those who contributed through our fundraising drive. Apart from contributing
financially, those that donated also wrote well wishes to those in affected
areas. These messages can be found on the MIEF homepage.
On Thursday, April 28th, all funds collected by MIEF, a total of 69,379円,
were delivered, via the Mie branch of the Japan Red Cross Society, to areas
affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake.
MIEF will continue to fundraise for victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake
until September 30th, 2011. Our collection box is located in front of our
office on the 3rd floor of the UST Tsu building.
